Our Mission

Our purpose is to preserve rare breeds including Australian Heritage Angora goats & Romney Marsh Sheep through ethical, organic fibre farming that honours genetic diversity, animal welfare, and the natural environment. We aim to preserve endangered bloodlines while producing unique high-quality fibres that reflect the land, the animals, and the people who care for them.

By combining ethical husbandry with sustainable land management, we aim to protect soil health, support ecological balance, and ensure our animals live low-stress, near-natural lives. Each fleece is a by-product of respectful care rather than exploitation, valued for its rarity, durability, and natural beauty.

Our business serves discerning makers, designers, and consumers who seek traceable, responsibly sourced fibres with a meaningful story. Through transparency, education, and craftsmanship, we connect people to the origins of their materials while contributing to the long-term conservation of these heritage breeds and the future of regenerative agriculture.

Rare Flocks Farm - At A Glance

Intentional Farming

Rare Flocks Farm was built on the belief that farming can be ethical, sustainable, and deeply respectful.

We are not driven by scale. We are driven by stewardship. Our commitment is simple: Healthy animals. Healthy land. Sustainable living.

And it's all done off-grid!  Click here to read more.

Our Products

Our range of products grows alongside our farming journey. By weaving together our love of conservation, horticulture, and animal husbandry, we’re able to offer an ever evolving mix of rare breed fibres, heritage livestock, free range eggs, and specialty plants and insects. The beauty of a diverse system is how naturally it all works together—like our poultry happily weeding and fertilising the orchard as they roam.

Off Grid Networking

The team at Rare Flocks Farm have a deep connection with the land and heartfelt appreciation for nature.  By virtue of our location, we happily operate off-grid and in doing so, we have a relatively small carbon footprint which we are always seeking to reduce further.

Quality Over Quantity

Rare Flocks Farm exists to reconnect people with the origins of what they create and wear. We serve makers, designers, fibre artists, and conscious consumers who value transparency, provenance, and story as much as quality.

Our mission extends into education and community:

• sharing knowledge about heritage breeds and fibre processing

• promoting ethical sourcing and slow craft practices

• supporting regenerative agriculture as a future-focused farming model

• fostering appreciation for materials that carry meaning, not mass production

Rare Flocks Farm and The Rustic Ram Co.

Rare Flocks Farm work in partnership with The Rustic Ram Co who specialises in taking the raw materials produced by Rare Flocks Farm and turning them into unique pieces of art - no two articles are the same, not two dye batches are identical and no two patterns match. This being said, what you are paying  for is one of the rarest minerals on earth being transformed into something that is yours and yours only.

Every skein, fleece, and fibre leaving our hands represents a chain of care — from sun & soil to animal to artisan. By choosing us, you too are participating directly in conservation, helping to secure a future where rare breeds survive, sustainable farming thrives, and craftsmanship remains deeply connected to place.
